To fix hairline cracks in deep-running structural foundation walls, floors, ceilings and more, a concrete crack repair epoxy, or injectable polyurethane is a cost-effective, flexible, and long-lasting foundation crack repair. Constant temperature stress, traffic, and other factors can cause unsightly cracks in concrete walls, ceilings, sewer systems, basement walls, and manholes over time, which can sometimes present safety hazards. For these smaller, more isolated concrete breakages, a polyurethane resin concrete crack injection is the quickest and most effective long-term solution that can save you both time and money.
Polyurethane resin is a thin liquid that reacts with water and expands to form a closed cell, watertight foam. A low-pressure injection method of polyurethane resin is used to fill cracks from behind. Foundation crack injection seals actively leaking joints and cracks in concrete structures, and restores concrete integrity. It also simultaneously waterproofs the area and protects structures against corrosion or water related deterioration. When injected into drilled injection ports along the crack, the resin expands to fill the crack completely. The resin will begin to harden and foam within minutes of injection. While concrete continues to shift, the polyurethane resin remains flexible, and ensures there is no future water leakage. This process is ideal for large or high-rise commercial buildings and condominiums, where parking garages and structural walls requiring basement leak repair or waterproofing run too deep to be accessed from the exterior.
Our injection repair procedure for cracks always begins with adequate preparation. Holes or “injection ports” are drilled along the crack on both sides, and the crack is then flushed with water, so as to maximize adhesion with a clean surface. Finally, we use a dispensing tool to inject polyurethane resin into each injection port location to fill the crack from behind. This polyurethane resin fills all cracks and voids in an effective, watertight manner. It’s also an environmentally friendly product and procedure that can repair many types of cracks and concrete floor, wall or ceiling breakages.
A quality foundation crack injection repair should last at least 5 years. There are many factors that could affect this lifespan, such as injecting cracks prematelurely while foundations are still settling, as this settling could result in further movement of the concrete. The Applied Flooring team will give a free consultation to determine the best solution for your space, and we back all our services with warranty.
Ideally, you would want to seal a crack as soon as it becomes an issue. If the foundation is still settling, however, there may be further movement and cracks may worsen or recrack even after injecting. Polyurethane crack injections remain quite flexible after curing, but it is still always best to perform epoxy or polyurethane crack injections once concrete foundations have almost completely settled. Our team has over 45 years of experience with polyurethane concrete crack injections and repairs, and will let you know if your crack requires an alternate repair route. We also offer a warranty on all our industrial and commercial concrete services.
Condo buildings, industrial or commercial parking garages, foundation walls, commercial buildings.
Polyurethane and epoxy injections are used to repair solid concrete rebarred walls, ceilings and surfaces only. Crack injections cannot adequately repair cinderblocks or concrete areas with high open-space volume.
