FF (Flatness) and FL (Levelness) numbers are essential metrics used to assess the quality of concrete floors. These numbers are particularly important in environments where floor flatness and levelness directly impact the performance and safety of operations, such as in warehouses, distribution centers, and industrial facilities.

  • FF (Flatness Number): The FF number measures the degree of waviness or undulations in the floor surface over short distances. A higher FF number indicates a flatter floor, which is crucial for the smooth operation of equipment, especially in areas where high precision is required, such as for Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) trucks.
  • FL (Levelness Number): The FL number assesses the overall slope or tilt of the floor over longer distances. Maintaining a high FL number ensures that the floor is level across the entire surface, which is vital for the safe movement of goods and personnel.

Achieving the correct FF and FL numbers is essential for creating flat and super-flat floors, which are required for specialized environments. The combination of these measurements ensures that the floor will perform as intended, reducing the risk of equipment malfunction, improving safety, and extending the lifespan of the floor.

Floor flatness is essential for the performance of all Material Handling Equipment (MHE), but it is especially vital for Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) industrial trucks. As warehouse operations push the limits with increasing heights and speeds, the need for precise floor flatness becomes even more critical.

While existing standards such as DIN 18202, DIN 15185, and technical recommendations like TR34 represent the basic floor flatness tolerances, they may not fully address the specific requirements for VNA trucks. For these cases, more stringent standards like VDMA, EN 15620, or FEM 10.2.14-1 should be specified and adhered to. These standards ensure that your floors are optimized for the demanding performance needs of VNA trucks, preventing costly operational issues and enhancing overall safety.

The F-min standard is the benchmark for flatness and levelness in concrete flooring, particularly for environments where precision is critical, such as warehouses, distribution centers, and high-traffic commercial spaces. Our service ensures compliance with this standard, providing you with floors that are not only structurally sound but also optimized for performance.
